How to renew your boat registration online
After receiving your boat registration renewal notice in the mail, log on to the Internet address: http://www.virginia.gov/dgif/watercraft.html to access the DGIF Online Boat Registration Access Page.
Step 1
Find the boat registration number and the PIN listed on your renewal notice. Type those numbers exactly into the spaces provided on the screen. Select the "Submit" button.
Step 2
A screen version of your boat registration will appear. It is completed with the information supplied with the last renewal.
Review the information on the online renewal form to verify it is correct. If it is not, please delete any incorrect information and type in the correct information.
Once your application has been completed with the correct information, select "Proceed To Credit Card Payment" button at the bottom of the form.
Step 3
The credit card payment screen will appear. At the top of the screen will be the information regarding the cost of your registration. Please fill out the credit card form and select the "Pay Now" button.
Step 4
Please print this page and keep a copy of it for your records. Your official boat registration will be mailed to you within 5 to 7 business days.
